Pompom Blanket Sizes: Choosing the Right Coverage for a Sofa or Bed

The right pompom blanket size depends on what you want it to cover. A decorative fold at the end of a bed needs a different shape from a blanket used across the whole mattress. Measure the intended area first, then decide how far you want the fabric to fall on either side.

For a sofa, think about use

A compact blanket can sit over one arm or across a single seat. A larger rectangular piece gives you more fabric for wrapping up or spreading over a wider section. Measure the sofa area you want to cover rather than choosing only by the room photograph.

For example, a 100 × 150 cm blanket creates a different effect from a 150 × 200 cm one. Fold a sheet or another blanket to those measurements and test the proportions on your own sofa before ordering.

For a bed, calculate the side drape

Measure the mattress width and add the drop you want on both sides. A 160 cm-wide mattress with a 20 cm drop on each side needs approximately 200 cm of fabric across it: 160 + 20 + 20 = 200 cm. This is a layout example, not a guarantee that a particular blanket will cover every bed the same way.

Then check the other dimension against the mattress length and the position of your pillows. A folded bed-end layer may need much less length than full coverage. Make sure the stated blanket dimensions are oriented the way you intend to use them.

Allow space for the decorative edging

Pompoms should sit where they can be seen without dragging along the floor or catching in nearby furniture. Ask whether the listed measurement includes the decorative trim, particularly for a custom piece. Confirm the finished dimensions and any handmade size tolerance before production.

Check these details together

  • The area you want covered
  • The desired drop on each side
  • The blanket’s length and width orientation
  • Material and care instructions
  • Whether coordinating pillow covers are included

Is a square blanket suitable for a bed? It can be, depending on the mattress and intended coverage. Use the dimensions rather than a size name such as “queen” or “king,” which may vary between markets.
